Let me start by saying Pizzioli has been my favorite restaurant in Chino Hills for several years. We have celebrated many special occasions there including, birthdays, graduations, Valentines day, and many more. The menu has been very versatile for my whole family. The kids can eat pizza by the slice and my wife and I can order our favorite, Vino Bianco. Let me try to describe my favorite pasta dish anywhere. Fettucinne with a crab, scallops, shrimp, diced clams, and langoustine in a rich garlic cream sauce with a little jalapeno kick and topped with chopped tomatos. This is hands down one of the best pasta dishes that I have had.
I ventured out and tried something new to me, the Penne e Salsicce. The flavor was very good, the sauce was seasoned perfectly with a nice ratio of sausage slices to pasta. The portion was pretty average. I would highly suggest this entree as well.
I also tried the Chicken Parmigiana, the portions was generous and prepared very well.
My daughter seems to be a bit of a Fettucinne snob and loves their rendition. The portion is generous and the flavor is perfect.
I have not tried their beef, but from what I have been told, it is terrific!
The wine selection is better than almost anyother restaurant in the Inland Valley as is their whiskey. If you like to enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner, I highly suggest this restaurant!
I am sad to say, that the service was AWEFUL! We waited OVER an hour for our meals. It seemed as if we were not even there. Our glasses were near empty our bread basket was long gone and our waitress had no clue. When our food was finally delivered, my pasta was what I considered hardly warm. My wife's portion was embarrassingly small and my daughters sandwich was the last thing to be delivered. I am not exactly sure as to why a turkey sandwich takes longer than a cold pasta dish.
The good news is that the restaurant was busy, the bad news is that we probably will not be back for a long time. I am hoping that is an isolated case and I just happened to have a bad service, but upon discussion with other people, apparently, this is pretty consistant. I hate to see a great restaurant like this fall apart. Espically in these economic times, a meal that costs over $15 per person, we expect to get quailty service.
Ranking:
Food 3 1/2 Forks
Service 2 Forks
Value 3 Forks
Cleanliness 4 1/2 Forks
Overall 3 Forks
This will continue to be one of my favorite local restaurants, I hope that the service will improve dramatically. I know that the server has been there for as long as I have been going there but, it is too bad how one experience can change your opinion. Let's hope that it gets better.
